PassbackAI — a better way to give AI feedback
AI wrote a lot. You don’t have to. Give the feedback you almost skipped: PassbackAI lets you comment on each passage of a long Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, or Perplexity answer where it sits, then copy the whole bundle back to the model in one paste — anchored, with the verbatim quote and the heading it's under (or, for tables, the row or column the cell sits in). Each note reaches the model with an unambiguous target, instead of a description of where to look.
Local by default. No account to review. Your document stays in your browser unless you deliberately share it or route it to a reviewer. Free to use and free of charge.
What PassbackAI replaces
The single thing PassbackAI replaces is typing your feedback as prose into the chat box. Nothing else. Copying the answer into Google Docs, Notion, or a GitHub PR strands the feedback somewhere the model that wrote the draft won't read it. Native surfaces are closing part of that gap — Claude Docs takes inline comments on a Claude-native document, and ChatGPT can revise a selected passage in place — but each one works inside a single vendor. PassbackAI is the vendor-independent layer: one review pass, the same anchored format, whichever model produced the draft.
How it works
- Paste the model's Markdown answer into passbackai.com (or click the extension toast that appears after you copy from Claude / ChatGPT / Gemini / Perplexity).
- The app auto-renders the Markdown with full formatting: headings, lists, code blocks, tables, blockquotes, links, bold/italic, inline code.
- Select any range of text — a word, a sentence, a paragraph, or a span across blocks. Repeat for every passage that needs work. Overlapping highlights are allowed; there is no limit.
- A comment UI appears (floating card on desktop, bottom sheet on mobile). Type free text, tap a canned label (Delete, Too long, Off tone, Made it up, Too vague), or both. Save with ⌘+Enter.
- Click Copy Comments (or press ⌘+Shift+C). The export is a clean Markdown block where each highlighted passage is paired with its note, separated by
---, ordered by document position.
- Paste the export back into the chat. The model applies every edit in one round-trip.
Who uses PassbackAI
- Anyone giving Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, or Perplexity feedback on a long Markdown answer.
- Product managers and spec writers iterating with a language model on a PRD or RFC.
- Technical writers reviewing AI-drafted Markdown content.
- Editors and legal reviewers who used to ship feedback in Google Docs and now want it to land back in the chat the doc came from.
- Engineers iterating with Cursor or v0 on a long README, where Cursor's code-shaped tools broaden every prose edit by default.
Privacy posture
The review tool keeps your document in your browser's localStorage — a shelf of your twenty most recent docs (plus anything you pin), where older ones make room — and nothing is uploaded unless you explicitly share it or route it to a reviewer. The page itself emits only anonymous Vercel page-view analytics — page views, not document content; a document that embeds a video also loads that video from YouTube (a public id, never your text). Verify in DevTools → Network: zero requests carry the doc. Full posture at /privacy.
Frequently asked questions
Why not just reply in the chat?
For one quick correction, do. Passback is for the answer with several things to change, question, or keep — when explaining where each note belongs starts taking longer than the note itself.
What does PassbackAI actually do?
Highlight the exact words, leave your note, and copy all your feedback back at once. Each comment travels with the passage it refers to.
Does it work with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, etc.?
Yes. If you can copy the answer out and paste feedback back in, Passback works with it. Some tools also support shorter routes through the extension or MCP.
Will the AI actually understand the comments?
It gets a much clearer target: the exact passage, its context, and your note. The AI still makes the edit — Passback removes a lot of the guessing.
Does my document leave my browser?
Not in the normal paste → review → copy flow. Your recent documents stay locally in your browser. Passback keeps the 20 most recent documents, plus anything you pin; older unpinned documents make room for newer ones. Sharing or routing is opt-in and uses different data paths, including encrypted private links and connected AI workflows. See the privacy details →
Do I need an account?
No. Paste a draft and start. An account is only relevant to optional connected workflows.
Is it free?
Yes.
